EDUCATIONal Programs

At Pass a Smile International, we believe that education is a powerful tool for empowerment and social change. We are committed to providing quality education and equal opportunities to the visually impaired, widows, and underprivileged children.

Founded in 1958 by the Methodist Church – Ghana, The Wa School for the Blind is dedicated to providing academic, socio-economic, and moral training to children with visual impairments, empowering them for self-reliance from Pre school to post Junior Secondary School. The school consists of various departments, including kindergarten, primary, Middle School, multi-handicap, and vocational.

Pass a Smile International (PASI), a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization based in the United States with operations in the United States, Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa, is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those in need. In September 2024, we are organizing a special outreach program called “Dose of Hope for the School of the Blind, Upper West, Wa.” Through this program, we aim to bring hope and support to visually impaired students in the five Northern regions of Ghana.

Teaching & Learning Materials:

Essential learning tools such as parkins, stylus, writing film, cubarism cubes and boards, Braille papers, and textbooks in braille are urgently needed to facilitate comprehensive education.

Refurbishment of School Library: The school library requires modern Braille books to foster a love for reading and expand the students’ knowledge and imagination.

Dormitory Improvement: The current living conditions in the dormitories are deplorable, and refurbishment is needed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the students.

Inadequate Feeding Grants: Insufficient funding for meals compromises the students’ nutrition and overall well-being.

Toiletries, Mosquito Nets, and General PPEs: Shortages of toiletries, mosquito nets, and personal protective equipment pose health and safety risks to the students.
